What Is Included in a Standard House Cleaning
What a standard house cleaning actually covers
A lot of people call us not knowing what to expect. That is fair. The term "standard cleaning" gets used loosely, so let me just tell you what we do room by room.
Kitchen
We wipe down all countertops, clean the stovetop surface, scrub the sink, and clean the exteriors of all appliances, including the refrigerator, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. Cabinet fronts get wiped if they have grease or grime on the outside. What we do not do in a standard clean is go inside the refrigerator, inside the cabinets, or inside the oven. Those are either add-ons or part of a deeper level of service.
Bathrooms
Every bathroom gets a full clean: toilet inside and out, sink and vanity, shower and tub scrubbed, mirror wiped, and the floor mopped. If you have hard water buildup, which is common in Kennewick and Richland given the mineral content in the water here, we work through it as part of the standard process.
Living areas and bedrooms
We dust all reachable surfaces, including furniture tops, shelving, blinds, and ceiling fans that are low enough to reach safely. We vacuum all carpeted areas and mop hard floors. We straighten up where needed but we do not reorganize personal belongings.
One thing worth knowing if you live out near Southridge, Badger Mountain South, or anywhere on the west Kennewick plateau: wind-blown dust off the Horse Heaven Hills moves into homes fast. It settles on baseboards and ceiling fans more than people realize. In a standard clean, we dust ceiling fans and visible surfaces. If you want baseboards hand-wiped throughout, that is included in a deep clean, not a standard one.
What a standard clean does not include
These are the things people most often assume are included but are not:
- Inside the refrigerator, this is an add-on for standard and deep cleans, and is only included automatically in a move-in/move-out clean
- Inside cabinets and drawers, same situation, move-in/move-out only unless you add it on
- Interior windows, add-on for standard and deep cleans, included in move-in/move-out cleaning
- Inside the oven, not part of a standard clean; it is included in a deep clean and move-in/move-out clean
- Baseboards hand-wiped throughout, included in deep and move-in/move-out cleans
When a standard clean is the right choice
If your home is reasonably maintained and you want consistent upkeep, a standard clean makes sense. It handles the surfaces that accumulate everyday dust, grease, and grime. You come home to clean counters, scrubbed bathrooms, vacuumed floors, and mopped tile.
If the home has not been cleaned in a while, or if you are moving into a place in Pasco or West Richland and you do not know how the previous tenant left things, a standard clean may not be enough. That is where a deep clean or a move-in/move-out clean comes in.
The difference between the three types of cleaning we offer
We keep it simple. There are three levels:
- Standard house cleaning, everything described above, the full surface clean of every room
- Deep cleaning, all of the above, plus inside the oven, baseboards hand-wiped throughout, and ceiling fans cleaned more thoroughly; inside the fridge and cabinets can be added on
- Move-in/move-out cleaning, the most thorough option, includes everything in a deep clean plus inside the refrigerator, inside all cabinets, and interior windows; built for lease turnovers and home sales
A lot of Hanford and PNNL contractors moving into rentals around Richland ask about move-in cleans specifically. Landlords around here care about deposit returns, and Washington State does require landlords to account for a deposit within a set period after move-out. A documented, professional clean helps with that process on both sides.
What affects the price of a standard clean
We quote flat by the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and by the type of clean. The condition of the home matters too. A home with pets may carry a pet hair fee. Add-ons like interior windows or inside the fridge change the quote as well. We never quote blind. You text us the bedroom count, bathroom count, and which type of clean you want, and we send back an exact number, no obligation.
